چکیده
This paper presents a general inequality for the grating lobes of the planar phased array, whether rectangular lattice or triangular lattice. And for the planar phased array with grating lobes, the maximum scanning angle is given.

Phased array element shapes for suppressing grating lobes.
Most techniques for suppressing grating lobes in phased arrays while relaxing the interelement spacing requirement involve redistributing array elements in sparse aperiodic patterns, or varying the transmit-receive beam patterns. An alternative is presented which uses oversized array elements to eliminate grating lobes as a direct consequence of the element shape. It is shown that by using care...
متن کاملTwo-Dimensional Arrays Optimized for Wide-Scanning Phased Array Based on Potential Function Method
For phased and adaptive arrays of antennas, an optimal arrangement of antenna elements is essential to avoid grating lobes in the visible angular region of the array. Large sidelobes cause degradation in signal-to-noise ratio; grating lobes, in the worst case, cause malfunctions. One method of evaluating sidelobe level is square integration. For a given set element positions, evaluation by squa...
متن کاملReduction of Side Lobe Level of Thinned Phased Array Antenna using Genetic Algorithm
Thinned phased array antenna is useful for Radar and satellite communications. Main drawback of phased array antenna is generation of side lobes and grating lobes when the beam is titled from broadside direction toward the end-fire direction. This paper reports the optimization of thinned phased array antenna using genetic algorithm (GA). By varying the tilt angle form broadside direction main ...

Attention is concentrated on the radiating and evanescent modes which must appear, both in free space and in the receiving transmission lines, when an infinite array of radiators is illuminated by a plane wave. If the radiators have a tendency to form a slow-wave structure (as all radiators must, even if to only a very slight degree), then for angles of incidence greater than a certain amount t...
